It’s more than a year now since we’ve had our beautiful red mini-van. Please read our very interesting car buying experience. My husband asked me to refresh him with the reason why I insisted on a red mini van. I told him that red has the longest wavelength in the color spectrum which the naked human eye can see. Translation: Red stands out. Because of my accident experience with the dark green sedan(the other driver said she did not see me), I wanted a color that is easily visible. Someone has to be legally blind to say that they can’t see a red mini-van coming down the road.
In Feng Shui, red is good luck and gives out energy. In fashion, it’s hot! What a better way to accessorize during the dullest days of the winter.
Nice, sleek family van! Don’t you have to pay a higher rate for insurance if you’re driving a red car or something? I have a younger sister who will choose a car based on the availability of a bright or ‘bloody’ red color.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks. Actually, our insurance rate has gotten lower because of the fact that it falls under the minivans(i guess it’s they just assume that parents are safer drivers). I used to drive a sporty sedan 1997 model and the rate was higher because of being “sporty.” If you drive a red Corvette around here, the insurance rate will be definitely alot higher. Two door cars and SUVs take alot of hit on insurance.
Interestingly enough, my brother-in-law bought a red Audi and was told by his insurance company that he would probably have more accidents than drivers of other colored-cars!!! Weird, the agent told him that for some reason other drivers are “drawn” to red cars and BANG. I certainly hope not, since she is driving my very beautiful and very special neice in that hot red van!
Hi Darlene,
Well, those thieves who broke into the barely one month old van were drawn by the red alright. I’ve observed the drivers of red sports cars are bolder. It’ll be interesting to look into the statistics.
