Where to Buy Good Dance Shoes

October 4, 2007 by: The Phoenix

tapgirl.jpgThis is the third year that my daughter is going to dance school. The picture on the left was taken from her first year when they had a recital. They only have recitals every other year so we parents won’t go bankrupt, very considerate of the dance school. She does ballet and tap. We enrolled her so that she will have good posture and it also helps her with coordination, discipline, confidence and for physical activity. And yes because she looks cute in a tutu. :)

She received free ballet shoes for this year because I registered in advance last Spring. It was part of the studio’s promotion. I forgot all about the tap shoes. When I realized that we had to buy one when she was about to change from her ballet slippers to her tap shoes! I asked the studio if they have any shoes left but they ran out. We had to run to the nearest dance store but they also ran out on her size. I preferred to buy at the studio because it was $25 as compared to the store which was $42(with tax). After two weeks without tap shoes, we finally were able to buy the tap shoes from the store for $40. I really didn’t want to spend that much for a pair of tiny tap shoes to be worn once a week. We just spent money on school clothes and shoes 2 weeks prior, so I wasn’t really planning on spending more on shoes. I had to postpone buying myself a pair of sneakers, ah the sacrifices we make for the children. I’m sure my parents did the same.

She doesn’t push it on the parents though but her award winning competition team wears them.

After I bought the shoes, I went online and compared prices. I was shocked to see that the same Bloch leather tap shoes sold for $28.20 in Amazon.com!

Next time I will buy from Amazon, even with shipping it’s going to be cheaper if I buy other stuff like the ballet slippers.

oy may ballerina ka na :). Lil K reminds of my KC, we enrolled her to this famous ballet school in freiburg. after a year, her group performed the “nussknacker” of tschaikowski. that was her first and last performance though, dahil mas type daw niya karate. i still have her pink tutu as remembrance.

Wow! Very impressive! Going to the Nutcracker after a year. Lil K loves the Nutcracker she saw it when she was 4 and has been begging us to take her again. It’s tiring to be a stage mommy for show rehearsals. It’s great that your KC enjoys Karate. We are also thinking of enrolling Lil K with some self defense classes but the Karate is in a place where I don’t want to drive to so she might have to take Taekwondo. Basta self-defense diba?
