Natural Skin Care
October 9, 2007 – 8:12 amI have been into natural skin care products for a while now. People are finally realizing that what has worked for the ladies for centuries can still work wonders today. I don’t know how it got to the point when they thought synthetic chemicals is better for the skin. Well, synthetic stuff are cheaper to reproduce than anything natural that is grown. I also believe that there are companies who are working hard to make high quality products. Advertising costs are passed on to the consumer, that’s you and me. So I try to look for products who don’t advertise as much on TV because they’ll cost less.
I found a list of natural ingredients that are beneficial to the skin from Heath and Henry Natural Body Care.
- Alcohol Derived from Yellow Corn - Fast drying solvent distilled from yellow corn.
- Almond Oil - Protects skin, relieves irritation and inflamation
- Aloe Vera - Known for it’s soothing, healing properties
- Bees Wax - A natural wax that increases essential moisture to the skin
- Cocoa Butter - Outstanding skin protectant that softens and protects chapped skin
- Glycerin - Soothing natural moisturizer and emollient
- Jojoba Seed Oil - Effective moisturizer and emollient with antioxidant properties
- Macadamia Oil - Nourishing and gentle oil that absorbs easily into dry skin
- Mango Seed Butter - Non-greasy emollient that protects skin from moisture loss
- Olive oil - Moisturizes skin, powerful antioxidant rich in Vitamin A & E
- Shea Butter - Moisturizes and retains elasticity of skin and protects dry and damaged skin
- Tangerine Oil - Antioxidant properties help heal skin and clear acne
- Tea Tree Oil - Antibaterial and antifungal properties
- Vitamin E - Nourishing antioxidant protects against free radicals
I will be blogging more about products that I have found that works for me at very reasonable prices. Of course you can always treat yourself for an instant spa treatment from just going to your kitchen and slathering yourself with olive oil

I too have tried the natural skin products, unfortunately I have allergies to the scents and natural citrus-type ingredients! I used the mango and had hives for 3 days! Same thing with most of the other products (the shea butter was really bad), even sometimes with Aloe Vera. It is a HUGE pain in the neck to not be able to use some of the natural products due to the, well, natural ingredients. Big Bummer!

Hi Darlene, I’m sorry to hear that you are allergic to natural skin products. Geez-weez, that’s really something!
