For those of you who haven’t thought of what to get for your special someone’s gift yet and diamonds is out of the question due to budget constraints, you still have some time to buy the perfect gift: cashmere! What better way to give your loved one a warm embrace even if you are not with him/her? I have one cashmere sweater that my husband gave me last 2005 and I would wear it everyday if I could. It’s so soft on the bare skin. It’s amazing how it can make the temperature just right. It simply retains the right amount of body heat making you feel comfy unlike Acrylic sweaters that can make you feel too hot and uncomfortable. My best gauge? My underarms, if they perspire at room temperature then I shouldn’t be wearing it. I would take natural fibers anytime and cashmere is a treat.
Different brands have made cashmere more affordable these days, so it will fit any budget. You don’t have to buy an expensive sweater because cashmere comes in many forms that are more affordable like hat, gloves and scarves. I bought a Pashmina scarf from Ebay for $15 and it has been my security blanket ever since.
What is cashmere anyway?
“Cashmere fiber is a fiber obtained from the Cashmere goat and is also known as Pashmina. The changthangi or pashmina goat is a breed of goat from Ladakh. The name derives from an archaic spelling of Kashmir. It is sometimes incorrectly applied to any extremely soft wool regardless of origin. It is noted as providing a natural light-weight insulation without bulk. Only the fine and soft downy undercoat of the goat is used that’s why it commands a higher price due to the law of supply and demand. Look, I have been extremely patient with my old wireless phone provider. I arrived here at the States 7 years ago and that’s how long I have been with them. I don’t like breaking relationships but if it’s not really working then I have no choice but severe the ties . I can’t go on paying $34/month for a cellphone that drains as soon as I turn it on and a wireless network that I can’t use when I go places(I stay within areas with civilization). All I need is a real working wireless phone. I only want to have a dependable way of communicating where ever I go within the Continental US. I only require a signal and not some multi-functioning entertainment system in my phone. Just imagine that I got used to turning on my 2 year old phone whenever I need to call someone, I can’t get called because I need to turn it off to conserve battery. Why not buy another battery you say? Well, the battery drain happened early on when the phone was new and I didn’t want to buy a battery for a newly bought phone. So I have been waiting for my 2 year contract to expire and I didn’t realize that I could have switch last July! (I tried accessing my online account once and the site was down so it just slipped my mind to check when my term was up.)
I have been shopping online since I came to the US in 2000. It was such a thrill at first to be able to order something from the Internet and it comes in the mail or delivered by the FedEx or UPS guys. I found it such a “high tech” experience to make orders online by using a “cart” then checking out by paying with a credit card(my boss trusted me with the company’s American Express). It’s a good thing that I was doing the shopping for the company. It was great to just concentrate on the specs and prices then not have to think about where the money will come from to pay for the equipment I was ordering.
