Discussion on Izea @ TechCrunch

It’s back to regular programming. Just got back from a week long Thanksgiving vacation and I couldn’t wait to blog, it’s 12:12 am Monday morning. The little one had a week break from school and we took a run for it! We missed the flexibility when she was just attending pre-K. We used to take long weekend trips now and then when she used to just have Monday-Thursday classes.

Anyways, there is a discussion over at TechCrunch, actually it is more of a poll if TechCrunch should accept advertising from Izea(PayPerPost) or not. For me, I would say that CEO Ted Murphy of Izea should just put the money in keeping the PPP bloggers happy by giving Christmas bonus opportunities for everyone. Why give the money to someone who has lots of it already and makes a fuss over taking advertising money. PPP bloggers have been hit hard with the Google PR fiasco and I’m sure it has made them less interested in logging in to PPP.

Give the advertising money to people who would appreciate it.

Here is my comment that I left on the site:

I did PayPerPost for 3 months and now I have funds for my new MacPro. I did get kicked out from the Internet by Google but heck I was only risking $50 all time(1 year) Google income from Adsense. At least I’m not doing anything fraudulent like hiring Adsense clickers(check out careerbuilder.com for companies who are hiring). I made the money by my own sleepless nights.

See, there are plenty of stay-at-home-moms who are trying to augment their family income by doing PPP(Izea) because they are not SEO hot shots like you who can figure out how else to make money from blogging.

Why is PPP looked down upon from TLA or Reviewme? Big time bloggers are “reviewing” companies so how different is it for small time bloggers to advertise and/or review companies with Izea?

I read different PPP blogger’s sites mostly stay-at-home-moms and PPP gave them a sense of empowerment to be able to make some money for shopping or to pay for ballet lessons for their kids or even help pay to get out of debt.

High and mighty bloggers should also think of small time bloggers too because they are people just like them looking for a space in the Internet.

Hey, thanks for this. I didn’t realize that there was a lot fuss about PPP when it was starting. I followed your link and read more links from there.

I think those Techcrunch guys are just so full of themselves. Yeah, I think its a good idea that PPP not advertise with them and give bonuses to PPPers instead.

    Hi Bill,
I really don’t understand nor have enough time to read up on what is so different from PPP, Review me, Text Link Ads and other advertising opportunities. They are all “pimps” or link brokers if you will, including the big kahuna who kicked us out of the Internet. The only difference that I see is that the others cater to more big high and mighty bloggers.

Big time bloggers who make money online shouldn’t belittle the ones who are trying to get by or just starting because they were once in the same position. At least we are trying to make an effort to make something out of the Internet advertising and not doing something that could hurt anyone.

Some people just fail to realize that other people co-exist in the same world as they do.

Very well said Tina…Am happy to tell you that you’re one of the bloggers who influenced me to try it out with PPP. I’ve mentioned your name on my first PPP post. So far, I’ve done 2 posts already. Am so excited, been waiting for qualified opportunities but only got 2, wonder why. Anyway, been busy also with a new business venture here in Manila. Wish me luck… :-) TC.
