Sexy Gift of Cashmere

December 19, 2007 – 11:57 am

Old Navy cashmere: $40For those of you who haven’t thought of what to get for your special someone’s gift yet and diamonds is out of the question due to budget constraints, you still have some time to buy the perfect gift: cashmere! What better way to give your loved one a warm embrace even if you are not with him/her? I have one cashmere sweater that my husband gave me last 2005 and I would wear it everyday if I could. It’s so soft on the bare skin. It’s amazing how it can make the temperature just right. It simply retains the right amount of body heat making you feel comfy unlike Acrylic sweaters that can make you feel too hot and uncomfortable. My best gauge? My underarms, if they perspire at room temperature then I shouldn’t be wearing it. I would take natural fibers anytime and cashmere is a treat.

Different brands have made cashmere more affordable these days, so it will fit any budget. You don’t have to buy an expensive sweater because cashmere comes in many forms that are more affordable like hat, gloves and scarves. I bought a Pashmina scarf from Ebay for $15 and it has been my security blanket ever since.

What is cashmere anyway?

“Cashmere fiber is a fiber obtained from the Cashmere goat and is also known as Pashmina. The changthangi or pashmina goat is a breed of goat from Ladakh. The name derives from an archaic spelling of Kashmir. It is sometimes incorrectly applied to any extremely soft wool regardless of origin. It is noted as providing a natural light-weight insulation without bulk. Fibers are highly adaptable and are easily constructed into fine or thick yarns, and light to heavy-weight fabrics.” Read more about cashmere from Wikipedia.

Only the fine and soft downy undercoat of the goat is used that’s why it commands a higher price due to the law of supply and demand. Don’t feel bad for the Pashmina goat for loosing their undercoat because they only  loose their warm cashmere coats  in the  Spring time when they naturally shed them. Read the rest of this entry »

Get Out of Debt Now!

December 18, 2007 – 9:19 am

The first step to get out of any sticky situation in life is to acknowledge and recognize the fact that there is indeed a problem. Many people live in denial which is really the easiest way to escape reality. But copying an ostrich who sticks it’s head in the sand when there is trouble doesn’t solve anything, it actually makes it worse.

You just simply have to stop and listen to your gut because it’s telling you that you have to do something now. Thinking for about 10 minutes without interruption can do wonders. Turn off the Ipod, cellphone(Iphone included) and the computer then ask yourself if you are ready to commit yourself to making your life debt free. If you are ready: take the steps and/or be in a FREE online seminar to help you make a plan. I found this Motley Fool site is geared towards real people.

If you are in debt $5,000+ you really can’t afford to be splurging on gifts this Holiday season. So if you purchased a 42+ flat screen TV on 10%+ interest rate, maybe you still have time to pack it up and return it. And wives, if you plan to stay married to your husband for as long as you live, remember that the 2 carat diamonds you will be getting for Christmas is really way out of your price range and it’s coming out of your pocket too.

Have a debt free Holiday Season everyone!

Hello AT&T Goodbye Sprint

December 13, 2007 – 12:10 pm

Look, I have been extremely patient with my old wireless phone provider. I arrived here at the States 7 years ago and that’s how long I have been with them. I don’t like breaking relationships but if it’s not really working then I have no choice but severe the ties . I can’t go on paying $34/month for a cellphone that drains as soon as I turn it on and a wireless network that I can’t use when I go places(I stay within areas with civilization). All I need is a real working wireless phone. I only want to have a dependable way of communicating where ever I go within the Continental US. I only require a signal and not some multi-functioning entertainment system in my phone. Just imagine that I got used to turning on my 2 year old phone whenever I need to call someone, I can’t get called because I need to turn it off to conserve battery. Why not buy another battery you say? Well, the battery drain happened early on when the phone was new and I didn’t want to buy a battery for a newly bought phone. So I have been waiting for my 2 year contract to expire and I didn’t realize that I could have switch last July! (I tried accessing my online account once and the site was down so it just slipped my mind to check when my term was up.)

Now, I have a real working Nokia 6555 phone with a signal at places I normally go to! I still have to remind myself these days that it’s OK to turn the phone on because the battery is not going to drain that quickly just being on. I will only buy Nokia, Ericsson and Motorola phones from now on. Read the rest of this entry »

Kudos to Anne Arundel County, MD

December 1, 2007 – 8:33 am

I know there are alot of things to complain about specially with our taxes being raised yet again here in Maryland but I also would like to recognize the good things where some of our taxes are being used for. I just assumed before that all counties in the US have great websites where you can find all the information you need as a resident because we have an outstanding county website. Well I found out that our county’s website has been voted as top 2 from the entire nation, that’s impressive. Kudos to the IT team of Anne Arundel County.

Service @ Ourisman Honda of Laurel

November 28, 2007 – 9:58 am

ilovemyhonda.jpgI am back from having the mini van serviced at the Ourisman Honda of Laurel where we bought the van. It got the much needed oil change since the indicator was nagging me to have it done by a negative % oil life message. I love intelligent cars because they make up for our memory lapses :) .

At first it was a bit confusing because I went to the usual parking area for vehicles to be serviced and when I walked in, the guys inside looked at me like I was some alien. So I told them that I was there for an oil change. They told me that I have to go to the service area in the new part of the building. Ah, no wonder their were like 3 men hanging out by the door. They were salesmen, service don’t usually do that. Read the rest of this entry »
